Dava goes Hiking!

Hiking update as promised.

Jess and Dava on Bear Mountain

Here’s some commentary from my first hiking trip up Bear Mountain in New York with Jessica Gomez.

1. Jess: “C’mon Dava, you can’t stop. Let’s go, let’s go!” 2. Dava: “I’m dying. Wait there’s more! OH look what we have here? A nice sitting rock. Can’t let it go to waste. Let’s sit. Come, come.” (Pats open space in welcoming gesture.) 3. Jess: “We are not even half way there.” 4. D:“Is there, like, a golf cart to go back down, or...?” 5. D: “I need water” 6. D: “I need more water” 7. Jess: “Hold my hand.” 8. D: “Oh look, more spiders!” 9. D: “Are we lost?” 10. J: “Why do you always notice the bugs, Dava?” 11. D&J: “Follow the hugs!” (red circles which marked the trail) 12. “Are you guys together or just friends?” -Joey the Trainer 13. “Be careful of that spot right there,” says Jess at least 1 Mile ahead of me. 14. D: “I can’t believe we made it up here.” 15. D: “I needed this.” 16. D: “I’m so happy to see your car again.”

I’m so excited to have done this and I can’t wait to embark on the next adventure. (By the way, I’m driving next time. I feared more for my life while Jess was driving than I did on the mountain. Just sayin’) Hiking up a mountain was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. The air is cleaner, sky is brighter and I stumbled upon so many realizations while up there. I wasted so much time living for others. Now it’s time to focus on living life for ME. Hell, I‘m almost 30 and 2020 is right around the corner. Time waits for no man, apparently. I’m so grateful that I was able to push myself in a way I’m not used to doing and yes, the experience inspired me to write! (As this evidence proves.)

Thank you for that, Jessica Gomez. You’re the best.

Just the same and I mean this wholeheartedly...

I am never doing that shit again.
